This home in the heart of Pacific Palisades was originally built in 2017 and underwent a stunning renovation just last year. Every detail—from the refined finishes to the thoughtful layout—reflected the owners’ vision of modern California living. Tragically, the home was lost in a recent fire that devastated much of the area.
Now, we’ve been entrusted with the responsibility to bring it back—better, stronger, and more resilient than ever. At LA Design Build, we don’t just rebuild homes—we restore stories, memories, and dreams. This project is a testament to our belief that beauty and durability can go hand in hand, even in the face of loss.

Fire Recovery & Site Clearance
The first step in rebuilding 1041 Iliff began with navigating the aftermath of the fire. This phase focused on the safe removal of hazardous materials and debris left behind. The U.S. EPA led the initial cleanup, carefully extracting asbestos, lead, and other contaminants from the site to ensure environmental safety and compliance.
Following that, we faced a critical decision: wait for the Army Corps of Engineers to handle the fire debris removal—or take immediate action. In the interest of accelerating the rebuild, we chose to manage the demolition and site clearance ourselves. Our team coordinated the removal of all fire-damaged structures, disposed of debris, and stripped the topsoil to prepare for clean, build-ready conditions. This proactive approach not only gave us control over the timeline but also marked the true beginning of bringing this home back to life.
Architectural Planning & Layout Design
With the City’s latest memorandum allowing a 10% increase in building footprint for fire-rebuilds, we saw an opportunity to not just restore—but to improve. During this pre-construction and planning phase, we’re working closely with our client and design team to reimagine the layout for greater function, flow, and livability. We’re carefully adjusting the architectural and structural plans, maximizing the expanded square footage, and refining every detail—from the placement of walls to the style of windows and doors. This is our chance to turn a setback into a smarter, stronger future for 1041 Iliff.
