This modern penthouse renovation in Marina del Rey was recently commissioned to transform an ocean-view residence into a refined, contemporary home defined by warmth, precision, and material integrity. The design centers on a calm, cohesive palette of cashmere, earth tones, and soft neutrals, creating a timeless backdrop that complements the coastal setting while maintaining a distinctly modern edge.

The kitchen serves as the architectural anchor of the home, featuring custom high-gloss lacquer cabinetry, Taj Mahal quartzite countertops, and a fully integrated modern lighting system that extends across the island and throughout the residence. Every detail—from cabinetry reveals to lighting temperature—was carefully considered to enhance both function and visual continuity. Engineered wide-plank flooring in subtle, natural tones runs throughout the main living spaces, reinforcing the penthouse’s clean, uninterrupted flow.

Bathrooms were finished with premium Porcelanosa tile imported from Spain, paired with custom millwork and modern fixtures for a spa-like experience. Throughout the home, bespoke entertainment and storage cabinetry was designed and fabricated to integrate seamlessly into the architecture, maximizing storage while maintaining a minimal aesthetic. The result is a luxury Marina del Rey penthouse renovation that balances modern design, high-end materials, and meticulous craftsmanship—tailored for elevated coastal living.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do you want the space to feel at different times of day—morning light, afternoon calm, and evening entertaining?
In the mornings, we wanted the home to feel light, open, and calming—almost effortless. During the day, it needed to stay grounded and serene without feeling flat. In the evenings, the goal was warmth and intimacy, with lighting that could shift the mood seamlessly for entertaining without changing the character of the space.
We were drawn to materials that feel refined but comfortable—cashmere-toned cabinetry, smooth lacquer finishes, Taj Mahal quartzite, and engineered wood flooring with subtle texture. Everything was chosen to feel good in daily use, not just look beautiful in photos.
We wanted guests to notice the calmness, the quality of the materials, and the flow of the space—not individual elements competing for attention. Storage, appliances, and technology were intentionally integrated so the architecture and finishes could take center stage without visual noise.
The design needed to feel timeless and adaptable. We focused on durable, high-end materials, flexible lighting scenes, and thoughtful layouts that would age well—so the home still feels current, functional, and valuable years down the line.
We were inspired by modern European hotels and residences that feel understated yet intentional—spaces where nothing feels overdesigned, but every detail is considered. That balance of restraint, warmth, and craftsmanship became the guiding principle for this project.
