This Los Feliz project is a testament to the artistry and innovation of LA Design Build, brought to life in collaboration with Mandy Cheng Design. Every detail of this home was carefully crafted to harmonize modern functionality with timeless aesthetics.

The kitchen is a masterful blend of bold design and warmth. Dark cabinetry contrasts beautifully with natural wood finishes, while brass accents on the pendant lights and hardware add a sophisticated touch. The handcrafted tile backsplash provides an intricate yet inviting focal point, framing the custom plaster hood. A clean, spacious quartz countertop anchors the room, offering a perfect balance between functionality and style. Exposed wood beams further enhance the space, giving it a rustic charm that feels both contemporary and grounded.
The primary bathroom is a stunning retreat inspired by Mediterranean elegance. A bold, intricate tile pattern envelopes the shower and walls, complemented by rich terracotta flooring. The custom oak vanity, complete with louvered cabinet doors, evokes a natural warmth while exuding luxury. Gold fixtures add a refined glow, paired with arched mirrors that perfectly frame the space. This bathroom is more than functional—it’s a serene sanctuary that blends artistry and sophistication.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What was the design vision behind the Gainsborough project?
The goal was to honor the home’s Mid-Century Modern bones while introducing Mediterranean warmth. We fused clean architectural lines with hand-painted Mexican tiles, custom rift-cut white oak millwork, and layered natural textures to create something rooted, lived-in, and elevated.
We custom fabricated rift-cut white oak cabinetry and millwork, including the kitchen, island, entertainment center, and bathroom vanities. Each piece was stained and finished in-house to complement the tilework and old-world detailing.
Yes, we went through a full structural transformation by removing several load-bearing walls. It required detailed design coordination and time-intensive permitting, but the result was a dramatic improvement — opening up the kitchen and living areas into expansive, connected spaces that completely changed the feel of the home.
Absolutely. With the help of Mandy Chang Design, the ADU was carefully integrated into the overall vision — reflecting the same palette, tilework, and architectural rhythm. The result is a seamless extension of the main house, maintaining perfect harmony in color, texture, and tone.
Yes — nearly everything was custom. From cabinetry and built-ins to stain colors and metal finishes, all were designed, fabricated, and finished by our team to ensure cohesion and quality across every space.
